Concept Development for Animation

Idea generation is hard. Number one, you need sleep to keep the mind running at peak performance. (I rarely get enough sleep). You also need to let the ideas come to you because if you chase them too hard, they seem to avoid you.

This semester, I hope to experiment with and share a number of techniques that help good ideas develop and come to you naturally. I recently read about Mind Mapping and then (the very day after reading about it), I met Mark .... from the UK at the Second Life Community Conference. Mark is a certified Mind Mapping expert. He shared his expertise with me and gave me a great PowerPoint with examples I can share with my class. He came with us (Anthony Fontana and I) on a tour of the Electronic Visualization Lab at the University of Illinois Chicago. This tour was right up his alley since he worked with stereo imaging and that was one of the primary areas of research being done there. it was like a chain reaction - I connected with Mark and learned a lot and then Mark connected with Daria at UIC and learned a lot. I wish the whole world was like that - sharing knowledge freely and at just the right time.
